'Unbelievable': Speroni has hailed Palace target Adebayor

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni has said he would welcome former Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor to Selhurst Park.

Adebayor is keen to stay in England after being frozen out by Spurs in September and believes a move to south London could help him break a Premier League record.

He has received better offers from the Middle East, China and Turkey but wants to surpass Didier Drogba's top flight goal haul and become the Premier League’s leading African scorer.

The 31-year-old is nine shy of Drogba's 104-goal tally and hopes to team up with Alan Pardew with one eye on the record. And after Palace defender Scott Dann praised the Togo international earlier this week, Speroni has spoken of his excitement over a possible deal.

What does January hold for Crystal Palace?

"Of course, he has a good record. It would be great if he came to Palace, he's an unbelievable player," Speroni told the Croydon Advertiser.

"He's done great and so much in football. I don't know what the deal is, if they've been in touch or if he wants to come to Palace.

"I am sure Palace will make the right decision to bring in, though, for sure."
