Emma Hayes wants to see ruthless streak from Chelsea against struggling Servette

Emma Hayes has told Chelsea to show no mercy against Swiss strugglers Servette in tonight’s Women’s Champions League clash.

Chelsea are aiming to move to the top of Group A with a win at the Stade de Geneve later and Hayes insists last season’s beaten finalists must be more ruthless up front.

She said: “What I want to see when we get that first goal is to build on it and be more relentless instead of feeling like we have got the goal and it takes the pressure off.

“When you’re in a game and it’s only 1-0, you leave the other team in it. I want to see the team persist in being a bit more relentless after the first goal. It’s something we want to make more conscious in all the players.”

Chelsea currently sit second in the group, level on points with leaders Wolfsburg and winless Servette are not expected to cause an upset.

Hayes added: “For them as a team, they will understandably not be at our level just yet, but they are worthy of being in this competition and they will no doubt learn from their two previous games. From those learnings they will add even more.”

Pernille Harder is available after missing the weekend’s win against Aston Villa, while Aniek Nouwen was taken off in that game as a precaution due to a tight adductor, but is also in contention.
