EFL chief executive Shaun Harvey is planning more talks with Charlton owner Roland Duchatelet about the controversial unpaid staff bonuses at the Valley.

Duchatelet has been in dispute with some administrative staff since last August over outstanding bonuses that some employees say were promised to them.

Duchatelet said the “incentivised bonuses” would not be paid because Charlton had endured “a very bad financial year”. The EFL met Duchatelet in Brussels in October and plan to step in again.

The EFL are currently undertaking a review into Duchetelet’s ownership of Charlton. The findings will be made public later this year.

After their meeting with the EFL, a spokesman for action group CARD said: “We pressed the EFL on the issue of the outstanding staff bonuses and expressed concern at the delay in resolving the situation.

“We were reassured to hear that the EFL’s involvement in it is ongoing and that Harvey plans to put a proposal to Duchatelet to resolve it in advance of the general review being concluded.”

Duchatelet has been in talks to sell Charlton for over a year but a deal does not appear imminent.
