Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah will stay at the club until the end of the season instead of going out on loan.

Nketiah spent the first half of the season on loan at Leeds before being recalled, having started two Championship games but making a further 15 appearances off the bench.

Arsenal have since received multiple offers from Championship clubs wanting to take Nketiah on loan - including Bristol City, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday.

Originally the plan had been for the striker to join one of those three clubs, with Bristol City leading the way, but Standard Sport understands the England Under-21s striker is now staying put.

Arteta has been impressed by Nketiah in training and the youngster will now fight for minutes in the first team at Arsenal.

Top scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is suspended for Arsenal's next three games - against Sheffield United, Chelsea and Bournemouth - meaning Nketiah could be given opportunities to impress.

Should Nketiah play for Arsenal before the end of January, registration rules will not allow him to turn out for a third club - after Leeds and the Gunners - for the remainder of the season.
