Newcastle supporters will boycott next week’s match against Tottenham as they put pressure on owner Mike Ashley to sell the club.

There have been tensions between the fans and Ashley throughout his seven years in charge and they increased even further on Sunday after a 1-0 defeat to struggling Sunderland in the Tyne-Wear derby.

A social media campaign has been launched urging supporters to show their anger by missing the Spurs match at St James’ Park on April 19.

The protest is aimed at causing maximum embarrassment to the club with the game being televised live by Sky Sports. There will also be protests outside the ground before and after the game.

Monday saw the launch of the AshleyOut.com website by the fans who were behind SackPardew.com, a campaign against former manager Alan Pardew.

The new website is supporting the action and said: “Whether people choose to boycott or attend the match, apathy is no longer a viable option.”
