Watford captain Troy Deeney has revealed Dimitri Payet's rabona for West Ham on Saturday was the moment the Hornets were inspired to launch a remarkable comeback at the London Stadium.

Slaven Bilic's West Ham side stormed into a 2-0 lead in their Premier League clash against Watford at the weekend thanks to a brace from Michail Antonio, with the second of his goals being set up by Payet's superb rabona cross.

However, the Hammers then conceded two goals from Odion Ighalo and Deeney within five minutes to help the visitors haul themselves back into the clash before further goals from Etienne Capoue and Jose Holebas secured a 4-2 victory for Watford.

Deeney believes Payet's rabona skill was "disrespectful" to Watford, but admitted it inspired his team to fight their way to a win.

"I go into every game thinking 'I'm Troy Deeney and I'm going to show you what's what,'" the Hornets captain told The Times.

"I just want everybody else in our team to do that. I just felt they were disrespectful to us.

"I can appreciate the rabona when a team is 5-0 up with ten minutes to go but not when we're still in the first half.

"But it got the boys up and running. West Ham tried to mug us off.

"They started doing the flicks and the tricks and so we need to thank them really. They stoked our fire."
