Diego Maradona has reignited his long-running feud with Pele by taunting his fellow South American over a FIFA poll.

Maradona, 52, who is in Italy this week to watch his former side Napoli, launched a foul-mouth tirade at the Brazilian, who was named FIFA's player of the century in 2000 ahead of the Argentine.

Maradona said: "I beat the brown guy in a people's vote. Pele even lost in Brazil! Ayrton (Senna) was voted their best athlete ever.

He added: "The prize that FIFA gave him isn't worth a d**k."

Maradona and Pele have long engaged in a war of words. From casting aspersions over sexuality and accusations of drug use, to charges of being two-faced and lacking in football skills they have never hidden their disdain for each other in public.

Maradona, who captained Argentina to victory in the 1986 World Cup also praised Italian striker Mario Balotelli.

"My first contact with Mario was him sending me a picture of him smoking a Cuban. I loved it! I laughed.

"[People should] leave him in peace... I would like to talk to Mario on our own, in a room, and explain to him all the bad experiences I had."
