David Luiz has given a glimpse into the current atmosphere within the Chelsea camp, revealing how many of the players enjoy a close bond both on and off the pitch.

Luiz re-signed for Chelsea on transfer deadline day after spending two years at Paris Saint-Germain, and he has quicky slotted back into the team while rekindling the friendships he formed during his first spell at the club.

The Brazilian is known to be good friends with his compatriots, for example Oscar, but admitted he shares a good relationship with many of the Chelsea squad - which he believes is crucial for the team to do well on the pitch.

When asked how important it was that he remained close to the Chelsea team during his time in Paris, Luiz told Chelsea TV: "We are friends, not just inside the pitch but also outside too.

"I have a great relationship with the Brazilians and with the other ones. It's important for us, the group and for the atmosphere to pass some time together also outside because it can make the difference in the details inside the pitch.

"The team spirit can make the difference when you pass during the season through some bad moments, it can help to change these kinds of things," he added.

"So it's important for us to have a great relationship with everybody."
