David Beckham: Sir Alex Ferguson is a legend

Going back: David Beckham will return to Old Trafford with AC Milan

David Beckham has said that it will be hard to put emotion to one side when he faces Manchester United for the very first time in a competitive match.

The 34 year old, on loan at AC Milan, will be part of the squad that take on United tomorrow night in the first leg of the second round of the Champions League in the San Siro.

Beckham left United under a cloud in 2003 when he signed for Real Madrid. He is now with LA Galaxy but has spent the past two off-seasons at AC Milan.

Sir Alex Ferguson famously kicked a boot across the United dressing room hitting Beckham before he sold the midfielder. But Beckham insisted he holds no grudges and said: "Sir Alex will always be a father figure to me.

"He always has been and he always will be. No matter what has been said in the past, whether good or bad, I only remember the good times. He was the man who gave me my chance to play for a club I had always dreamed of playing for. For me they were only good times. I definitely hold nothing against him, he's an incredible man."

Beckham's place in the Milan team is not guaranteed and their Brazilian coach Leonardo has left Beckham on the bench for the last two matches.

Leonardo said: "Not conceding is always our main objective, but we are also a team who try to score lots of goals and to change our identity now would get complicated."
