Darren Ambrose back for Palace

Ian Gibb11 April 2012

Some rare good news for fans of Crystal Palace - Darren Ambrose is kicking a football again.

It seems like an age since Ambrose, who scored 20 goals last season, injured his leg in August.

But at long last, manager George Burley can name him in his first-team squad and look forward to the kind of goal threat his team have so badly missed.

A midweek run-out for the last half-hour of a reserve game against West Ham was meant to be a tentative step on the road to recovery. But Burley said: "Darren came through fine and has been in training since. We will see how he progresses. He came through it very well which was better than we had hoped for."

Burley will need Ambrose, even as a substitute, against a visiting Swansea side lying third in the Championship table.
