Liverpool vs Real Madrid: Dani Carvajal responds to Mohamed Salah’s quest for Champions League final revenge

Jonathan Gorrie27 May 2022

Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has fired back at Mohamed Salah in the build-up to Saturday’s Champions League final.

The Liverpool star has gone public in his view that the showpiece in Paris is a chance for revenge, having been forced off injured in the 2018 meeting between the two after a collision with Sergio Ramos.

While the former Madrid captain has since joined Paris Saint-Germain, many of the names who took Los Blancos to their 13th European Cup on that day remain key figures under Carlo Ancelotti.

Carvajal has been constant presence for the La Liga giants amid all of their success in the competition in recent years, winning it four times since returning to the club from Bayer Leverkusen in 2013.

Speaking to ABC, the 30-year-old said: “I don’t know if Salah or Liverpool are in the mood for revenge. It is true that when you lose a Champions League final you always want to have a second chance against that same team in order to beat them.

“Let’s hope it’s not an important burden for Salah to lose a second Champions League final against Real Madrid.”
