Crystal Palace have had £20m bid for Eliaquim Mangala accepted by Manchester City.

The Eagles are searching for a central defender before the transfer window shuts on Thursday following a disastrous start to the season.

Liverpool's Mamadou Sakho, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Selhurst Park, remains the preference for Palace but that deal hinges on the clubs agreeing a deal.

Liverpool have been unwilling to lower their £30million valuation of Sakho, so any potential deal is set to go down to the wire.

West Brom's interest in Sakho complicates the deal, and the Baggies would have the funds to meet Liverpool's demands if they sell Jonny Evans.

However, the Sakho wants to return to Palace and the negotiations are set to go down to the wire.

Meanwhile, Palace are also interested in signing a goalkeeper after selling Steve Mandanda this summer.

The club have shown interest in Tottenham’s Michel Vorm and PSV Eindhoven’s Jeroen Zoet and had a loan bid rejected for Atletico Madrid back-up Miguel Angel Moya.
