Mamadou Sakho was stretchered off during Crystal Palace's Premier League clash against Tottenham on Wednesday after the Liverpool loanee suffered a suspected knee injury at Selhurst Park.

The Frenchman has made a positive impact for Sam Allardyce's side since arriving on loan from Liverpool but his season may well have been cut short following a collision with Harry Kane.

The Spurs striker burst forward into Palace's half and broke past Sakho, who slipped before his knee appeared to buckle underneath him.

Sam Allardyce's shake of the head on the sidelines was telling while a stretcher was ushered onto the pitch to assist the stricken defender.

Sakho received a huge round of applause as he was carried off of the pitch and Damien Delaney brought on his place with the scores locked at 0-0.

Allardyce had said of Sakho's future before the midweek clash: "Does Mama want to stay? Has Mama created a market for himself for other clubs, if not in the Premier League, in Europe, because they have monitored his performances with us?

"It is a big decision he has to make. If we stay in the Premier League, we will try our best to try and sign him.

"We will see how we go without him on Sunday. We have managed without Scott Dann and James Tomkins, with Martin Kelly stepping in, and let's see how well they can do without him.

"I will tell you what might be and what might not be when we get safe."
