Crystal Palace are set to complete the permanent signing of on-loan winger Jason Puncheon from Southampton, it is understood.

Premier League rules dictate that clubs can only name two loan players in their 25-man squad and England Under-21 Tom Ince's reported imminent loan arrival at Selhurst Park has forced Tony Pulis - who already has Cameron Jerome and and Puncheon on temporary deals - to wrap up a permanent deal for the latter.

Despite signing a new contract at St Mary's until 2016 last March, the 27-year-old was allowed to join the newly-promoted Eagles in the summer.

Puncheon has impressed for the south Londoners of late, scoring three times in January, and the Saints are understood to be waiting for Palace to sign-off on the deal worth a reported £1.75million.
