Roy Hodgson has warned the Crystal Palace board they face a tough task to sign up or replace the 13 players out of contract in the summer.

Patrick van Aanholt, Christian Benteke, Gary Cahill and Andros Townsend are among a long list of players in the final six months of their deals.

Hodgson himself is also out of contract at the end of the season but has told chairman Steve Parish and sporting director Dougie Freedman to focus on the players before sorting out his future.

Palace face Newcastle at St James' Park tonight and manager Hodgson said: "I think it is much more a problem for the club with so many players who are missing at the end of the season.

"There are some good players in that group who are out of contract. When you have quite that many, you'll be looking at a total rebuild if those out of contract don't sign new deals."
