Crystal Palace midfielder Joe Ledley still has a chance of playing at Euro 2016 after suffering a fractured leg that will rule him out of the FA Cup final.

Ledley was injured eleven minutes after coming on as a half-time substitute in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Stoke, taking a knock to the back of his leg that immediately forced him off the field.

Chris Coleman has already named the midfielder as part of a provisional squad, whose only significant absentee is Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale. The final date on which Wales’ 23-man squad can be named is May 31.

Standard Sport reported on Wednesday that Ledley was likely to be absent for a minimum of three to four weeks but, with their country’s first tournament since 1958 beginning against Slovakia in Bordeaux 30 days from now, the Football Association of Wales have suggested they will wait until the end of the month make a decision on the 29-year-old.

An FAW spokesperson said: “As far as we are concerned he still has a chance of playing in the Euros. Obviously our cut-off point is 31 May.”

Ledley appeared in seven of Wales’ Euro 2016 qualifiers and appeared from the bench in March’s 1-0 defeat away to Ukraine.
