Crystal Palace hold off naming new boss

Crystal Palace will delay appointing a new manager until the international break.

The club had hoped to name a successor to Ian Holloway before Saturday’s clash with Everton but that now looks unlikely, with Keith Millen set to continue as caretaker.

But Palace are narrowing their search, with Chris Coleman (above), Aitor Karanka and Alex McLeish among those to be considered. Coleman and McLeish have the Premier League experience Palace are looking for but Karanka — who was Jose Mourinho’s No2 at Real Madrid — is keen to get into management in England.

Palace expect to make an appointment ahead of their games against potential relegation rivals Hull and Norwich later this month.

The club are six points adrift of safety having lost nine of their 10 matches in the League this season but feel successive wins against teams around them would give them a genuine chance of safety.
