Crystal Palace goalkeeper Steve Mandanda says he would take “great pleasure” in returning to his former club Marseille.

The France international goalkeeper joined Crystal Palace on a free transfer in August but has been sidelined since December with a knee injury.

In that time Palace have slipped deeper into the mire at the bottom of the Premier League, whilst Marseille have embarked on a dramatic process of change under new ownership and have invested heavily to revitalize their standing in Ligue 1.

Dimitri Payet returned after 18 months at West Ham in a £25million deal whilst Crystal Palace were beaten to the punch as full-back Patrice Evra joined from Juventus. Mandanda suggested he would be open to joining them.

"Quite simply: everyone knows the attachment I have for Marseille," Mandanda told the Ligue 1 website.

"It would be a great pleasure to return, because my feeling for the club is enormous."

"If I have to return to France it will be with Marseille and nobody else."
