Crystal Palace pair Scott Dann and Jason Puncheon have been ruled out for the remainder of the 2017-18 season with cruciate ligament injuries.

The club captain and midfielder were both withdrawn during Sunday's 0-0 draw with Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Dann was stretched off after 20 minutes, stretching to clear the ball, before Puncheon collided with Kevin De Bruyne in the final minutes which led to both players also leaving the field on stretchers.

"Dann and Puncheon are both cruciate ligament injuries," Roy Hodgson told reporters after Tuesday's 2-1 win at Southampton.

"They'll both see a specialist and likely undergo surgery once the swelling goes.

"We won't see them play again this season and may not be ready for the start of next. They're very serious injuries."

The win at St. Mary's lifts Crystal Palace up the 14th, and Hodgson congratulated his players in the midst of a fixture pile-up and mounting injury concerns.

He added: "It's incredible how many blows to the chin you can take. There was a point early in the season where we were on the canvas, but things look brighter now."
