Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has thanked chairman Steve Parish for his support during the club’s slump in the second half of the season.

Palace have shown dismal form in the Premier League since Christmas but guaranteed their safety with a 2-1 win over Stoke on Saturday.

The Eagles can now turn their attention to the FA Cup Final against Manchester United and Pardew, who is ready to sign a new contract, said: “Steve Parish has been wonderfully supportive of what has been a difficult second half of the campaign.

"[American investors] David Blitzer and Josh Harris are also working so hard to move his club forward. We’re determined to make progress heading into next season.”

Dwight Gayle scored twice against Stoke to give Pardew something to think about ahead of the trip to Wembley on May 21. He will start at Southampton on the final day and Pardew said: “He’s put himself in contention for Wembley.”

Pardew has a couple of concerns: “I think Yohan [Cabaye] is okay, he kept getting bashed as usual and he took a bash too far. Joe Ledley is a little bit more of a worry so he’s probably sweating for the final but he’s strong.”
