Leveller: Palace celebrate Campbell's equaliser

Alan Pardew’s reunion with Newcastle ended in a draw after Frazier Campbell rescued a point for Crystal Palace.

Substitute Campbell equalised with a well-taken finish in the second half after Papiss Cisse had put Newcastle ahead before the break.

The result at Selhurst Park leaves Palace 13th in the Premier League, five points above the bottom three.

Yaya Sanogo limped off midway through the first half and was replaced by Campbell, who had a goal correctly disallowed for offside shortly after coming on.

Newcastle went ahead against the run of the play three minutes before the break when Daryl Janmaat crossed for Cisse to head past Julian Speroni. Fabricio Coloccini appeared to be struck by an object from the crowd as the visitors celebrated.

Yannick Bolasie, back from the Africa Cup of Nations, was brought on in the second half and his introduction sparked the Palace comeback. Bolasie crossed brilliantly from the right for Campbell to poke home an equaliser from close range.
