Crisis Notts County hopeful of £2m lifeline

11 April 2012

Notts County claim they are close to getting the £2million they need within 48 hours to survive.

The League Two side are due to face a winding-up petition from HM Revenue and Customs in the High Court on Wednesday over an unpaid £600,000 tax bill.

Executive chairman Peter Trembling hopes that he can secure the fresh investment that will avoid the club going to court.

"We hope to be able to satisfy the winding-up petition before Wednesday by paying off our debts," he said. "The critical thing is to get £2million into our bank account before then.

"We have been speaking to a number of investors for a few weeks now and we have got two investors who are very close to the line."
