Clement Lenglet to Tottenham: Loan transfer confirmed by Barcelona sporting director Jordi Cruyff

Barcelona sporting director Jordi Cruyff has confirmed Clement Lenglet’s move to Tottenham is imminent.

As reported by Standard Sport on Monday, Spurs have been in talks with Barca over the centre-back, who was one of a number of options being considered by managing director Fabio Paratici along with Villarreal's Pau Torres, Inter Milan's Alessandro Bastoni and RB Leipzig's Josko Gvardiol.

Lenglet, arriving on a season-long loan deal, was considered an alternative to other more expensive permanent additions.

Antonio Conte wanted further new signings in place before Saturday, when the squad fly out to South Korea for their pre-season tour, and Paratici has delivered once again.

Spurs will now have five new signings with the group, while talks over a deal for Middlesborough right-back Djed Spence remains ongoing.

Speaking at Andreas Christensen’s unveiling, Cruyff told reporters: “Lenglet’s departure is about to become official.”

Lenglet will join Richarlison, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma and Fraser Forster as new faces at Hotspur Way.
