Chelsea midfielder Oscar has signed a new contract with the club, keeping him at Stamford Bridge until 2019.

The 23-year-old, who joined the Premier League leaders in 2012 from Brazilian side Internacional, has been instrumental in Chelsea’s unbeaten start to the season.

Oscar has scored three goals and made two assists in nine Premier League games so far this season, with his most recent strike coming in the 2-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers earlier this month.

Speaking to the Chelsea website, Oscar said: “I am so happy because I love playing for Chelsea and living in England.

“I have enjoyed playing here for two years, and now I have five more, so I am very happy.”

It comes after goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois also agreed to commit his future to the club for the next five years.

Eden Hazard and Gary Cahill are also thought to be close to sealing new contracts with the Blues.
