Chelsea's Antonio Conte on the Premier League title race: 'In England, anything can happen'

Chelsea coach Antonio Conte has urged his players to forget about their shock loss to relegation battlers Crystal Palace on Saturday and start focusing on their upcoming match with title rivals Manchester City next week.

Chelsea saw their commanding 10-point lead at the top of the Premier League table cut down to seven points on Saturday afternoon after Wilfried Zaha and Christian Benteke scored to secure a 2-1 comeback victory for Palace in west London.

The loss - just Chelsea's fourth league defeat of the campaign - coupled with Tottenham's win over Burnley is likely to result in Conte's side feeling a little more pressure when Pep Guardiola's City side come to the Bridge next Wednesday night.

But Conte has called on his players to react to the loss to Palace by beating City - who will first take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday - or else risk their lead at the top of the standings slipping further.

Speaking to Match of the Day, Conte said: "This is football. We must accept this result.

"We scored our goal after five minutes and then we conceded two in a few minutes. When you concede goals in that way you must understand the situation and improve on these mistakes.

"In every game in England, anything can happen. The league is so strong. We faced a team today with strong players. I think they showed they were a good team.

"Now we have to think about the next game. If we had won we would have been happy but now it's important to focus on Manchester City."
