Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has left the club to rejoin Monaco on a season-long loan.

The deal will see Bakayoko return to the Ligue 1 club he left just two years ago.

The France international arrived at Stamford Bridge in a £40m transfer in July 2017 when Antonio Conte was in charge of the club.

But Bakayoko struggled to adapt to the fast and furious nature of English football and was frozen out under Conte's successor Maurizio Sarri.

The 25-year-old was farmed out on loan to AC Milan for the 2018-19 season and looked poised to make the move permanent after impressing at the San Siro.

But towards the end of the season he fell out with coach Gennaro Gattuso and the Serie A club decided against taking up the option to sign him.

He will join up with former Blues midfielder Cesc Fabregas at the Stade Louis II, who moved on a free transfer in January.
