Slavisa Jokanovic will look for assurances that Fulham will match his ambition when he sits down with the club’s hierarchy after Saturday’s Play-off Final at Wembley .

The Serb could be in demand this summer because of the job he has done at Craven Cottage, with Fulham on the threshold of reaching the top flight.

Chelsea have added Jokanovic to their list of possible successors to Antonio Conte, with the Italian expected to leave Stamford Bridge.

Jokanovic is due to speak to Fulham after the Play-off Final against Aston Villa to discuss next season and he hopes to hear that he will get financial backing if they are promoted.

Fulham owner Shahid Khan today told Standard Sport that he wants to do more than just survive in the Premier League if the club go up and indicated he is ready to spend in the transfer market.

Jokanovic, 42, will be pleased with that ambition and he wants to ensure Fulham will be ready should they beat Villa. He still has one year left on his contact at Craven Cottage and has given no indication he would look to leave. Fulham are keen to offer Jokanovic a new contract but he could have offers from other clubs and they may have to ward off interest in him if they fail to go up.

Jokanovic almost guided Fulham to automatic promotion this season following a 23-match unbeaten run but a 3-1 defeat at Birmingham on the final day of the campaign meant they missed out and finished third.

Fulham beat Derby in their play-off semi-final and Jokanovic has urged his players to seize the opportunity to get into the Premier League.

Jokanovic said: “We are going to have an opportunity to play the most important game in the last few years for us.

“We know how we are going to find it and at the end, what we want is to win.

“People only remember winners, no one remembers the team that lost the final. It is one of the most important games in our careers.”
