Maurizio Sarri says any new Chelsea signings will struggle to perform with the club's current mentality as Gonzalo Higuain looks to join on loan.

The Blues were roundly beaten at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday as Arsenal ran out 2-0 winners despite not having to play at their best.

After going unbeaten in the first 12 league games of the season, Chelsea have lost four of the following 11.

Sarri is looking to address the goalscoring problems in his squad by bringing in Higuain from Juventus but was downbeat on the loanee's impact in light of Saturday's loss.

When asked by Sky Sport Italy about Higuain, Sarri replied: "The club knows what I want, I’m sure they are doing their best.

"But whoever arrives will have difficulties with the mentality of today."

Shortly beforehand, Sarri had questioned his players' desire and even ability in such games but vowed to continue working to improve their fortunes with Tottenham up next in the EFL Cup semi-final second leg.
