Brazil Under-20 winger Kenedy played the first 45 minutes in Chelsea's friendly win against Barcelona - and could feature more for the Blues this season.

Chelsea are still waiting for the paperwork to go through on his £6.3m switch from Fluminense but the Brazilian club have allowed him to tour with Mourinho’s men.

He was expected to be sent on loan to earn a work permit but Mourinho claims that is not the case and revealed he will be a part of the first-team squad this season.

Mourinho, who was delighted with the 19-year-old’s performance, said: “We bought Kenedy because we believe in him. He’s a very young kid that we believe a lot in. We have conditions to get him a work permit because we want him. We don’t want him to go out on loan, I think we have what the rules demand to get him a permit.

Five things we learnt from Chelsea vs Barcelona

“He was in pre-season with us without the documents so he couldn’t play the first two matches for us.

“Against Barcelona he had the chance to do it and even if it was a friendly, I think it was the best debut for a kid, to play against the best team. It was a great night for the kid and a great experience.”
