Fernando Torres is set to join AC Milan on loan if the Italian club can agree a deal with Chelsea for his £180,000-a-week wages.
Milan need a forward after selling Mario Balotelli to Liverpool and have Torres in their sights. The 30-year-old striker appears to have little chance of making much impression at Stamford Bridge this season with Diego Costa and Didier Drogba ahead of him in the pecking order.

Milan want to take Torres on a season’s loan but are willing to contribute only £4.5million to his wages, which works out at £86,000 per week. It remains to be seen whether Chelsea would be prepared to pick up the remaining £5m of the bill for their out-of-favour star.
Sources in Italy suggest that Milan also have an interest in Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel, who moved to west London from Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem last summer but promptly suffered a serious knee injury.
If they cannot agree a deal for Torres, Milan may turn their attention to Roberto Soldado. Tottenham are keen to bring in another striker before the transfer window closes next Monday and would be willing to let Soldado, who turns 30 next May, leave to make it happen.
