Chelsea transfer news: David Luiz and Tottenham target Moussa Sissoko favourites to join Blues

Standard Sport31 August 2016

David Luiz and Tottenham target Moussa Sissoko are favourites to join Chelsea on the final day of the transfer window.

The Blues are locked in talks with PSG over a sensational swoop for former defender Luiz and saw a £32million bid for the Brazilian rejected on Tuesday evening.

PSG were this morning reluctant to sell, but Luiz is keen on a return to Stamford Bridge. It is thought Chelsea, who sold the defender for £50million two years ago, will have to significantly increase their opening offer to get him back at Stamford Bridge.

Nonetheless, Luiz remains the most likely incoming once the anticipated deal for Marcos Alonso goes through and is priced at just 5/4 to be posing with the Chelsea shirt before 11pm.

But will he be joined at Stamford Bridge by Tottenham target Sissoko? Spurs have seen an initial £16million bid for the Newcastle man rejected and are unlikely to do business unless the Championship club lower their valuation.

And reports in France on Wednesday claimed Chelsea are hoping to hijack the transfer as the odds on him moving to west London tumbled.

David Luiz 5/4

Moussa Sissoko 7/4

Edison Cavani 6/1

Leonardo Bonucci 6/1

Romelu Lukaku 10/1

Daniel Sturridge 12/1
