Olivier Giroud celebrated winning his international 100th cap with a double as France thrashed Ukraine 7-1 in an international friendly.

The Chelsea striker was handed a start by Didier Deschamps to confirm his status as the eighth player to reach a century of appearances for Les Bleus.

And the 33-year-old marked the occasion in superb fashion, scoring the second and third goals to take his tally to 42, enabling him to surpass Michel Platini's haul of 41.

It means Giroud moves up to second in the all-time goalscorers rankings, leaving him nine goals adrift of Arsenal legend Thierry Henry at the top.

Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann, Corentin Tolisso and Eduardo Camavinga all added their names to the scoresheet later on as the World Cup winners put their opponents to the sword.

The most glamorous tie of the international break saw Portugal welcome Spain to the Estadio Jose Alvalade with several Premier League stars featuring.

But the game ultimately flattered to deceive with the two teams playing out a goalless draw after a glaring late miss from Joao Felix.

The hosts came closest to breaking the deadlock, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Renato Sanches both striking against the woodwork in the second half before Felix's late howler.

Despite featuring a number of debutants, including Wolves winger Adama Traore and former Crystal Palace midfielder Jose Campana, Luis Enrique's experimental side claimed a share of the spoils.

Chelsea's record signing Kai Havertz proved to be Germany's main creative source, supplying two assists as Joachim Low's side were held to a 3-3 draw by Turkey.

But his club and international team-mate Timo Werner missed the game with a "slight cold" and is yet to link up with his team-mates in Cologne.

Elsewhere, Wolves striker Raul Jimenez continued his impressive form by netting the only goal of the game as Mexico secured a 1-0 win over the Netherlands.
