Out of favour: Marin is not in Jose Mourinho's plans
Simon Johnson27 June 2014

Eintracht Frankfurt want to rescue Marko Marin from his disastrous spell at Chelsea and have lodged a £4m bid for the German international.

Chelsea signed Marin from Werder Bremen for £7m in 2012, but he failed to make an impression and started just five games in his debut season.

Last term he spent the whole campaign on loan at Sevilla, but the Spanish club decided not to turn it into a permanent move.

Chelsea have a wealth of options that play in the 25-year-old’s position, including Eden Hazard and Willian, and increased the competition in the squad when they bought Mohamed Salah from Basle in January.

Marin is not part of manager Jose Mourinho’s plans and Eintracht have opened talks with the west London club over a transfer.

He is looking to secure a move anyway to ensure regular first team football and is open to the possibility of returning to Germany. Talking about his future, he said: “There are questions, even from the Bundesliga.”
