Loic Remy believes Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat to West Brom last night was an early warning over how tough it will be to retain the title next season.

No club has won successive championships since Manchester United claimed three in a row between 2007-09.

And Remy feels Chelsea’s success this term has made them the team everyone wants to beat.

He said: “Next season every team will really want to beat the champions, as West Brom did, and we have to prepare ourselves for this kind of game. Next season will be even more difficult than this one because of that.

“We were disappointed with the result because of course we want to win every game until the end of the season.”

Remy joined Chelsea late in the transfer window last summer and has scored seven goals despite limited playing time. He wants to end the season on a high against Sunderland on Sunday and added: “We want to finish the season in the best way we can. It will be a special game because we are already champions but we have to be focused and stay professional until the end.”
