Chelsea FC player ratings vs Crystal Palace: Havertz, Mount and Pulisic purr against the Eagles

AP

Chelsea firmly got back to winning ways as they put four past Crystal Palace, banishing the memories of last weekend’s collapse against West Brom.

Here’s how James Robson rated those on show at Selhurst Park.

Edouard Mendy 5

A spectator until Benteke struck – meaning he was robbed of another clean sheet.

Cesar Azpilicueta 7

On the rare occasions Palace got forward, he was there to cut out the danger – including one dangerous run by Ayew in the first half.

Kurt Zouma 7

Chance to put West Brom behind him and he did just that with his fifth goal of the season, which makes him the Premier League’s leading scorer among defender this term.

Antonio Rudiger 7

Close to getting on the score sheet himself. Held firm in the second half when Palace tried to turn the game into a contest.

Callum Hudson-Odoi 6

His delivery could have been better, but put Palace on the back foot with his runs to the byline.

Jorginho 7

In total control to leave Palace’s players chasing shadows as he spread the ball around.

Mateo Kovacic 7

Kept forcing Palace’s midfield into retreat with his constant forward passes and runs.

Ben Chilwell 6

Completed a very promising week with the performance full of attacking intent, but beaten easily by Benteke for Palace’s goal.

Christian Pulisic 8

In a very good run of form and just at the right time for Chelsea. Terrified Palace with his movement in the last third. Wonderful finish for his second goal in a week.

Kai Havertz 8

Perhaps his most impressive performance in a Chelsea shirt. Scored one, made and denied a wondrous solo effort by Guaita.

Mason Mount 7

A total nuisance to Palace with the gaps he spotted and exploited. Provided the cross for Zouma’s goal and came close to getting one himself.

N’Golo Kante (Jorginho, 61’) 6

Added more drive to Chelsea’s midfield.

Reece James (Hudson-Odoi, 76’) 6

Added to Chelsea attacking thrust.

Hakim Ziyech (Kovacic, 83’)

Subs not used: Kepa, Alonso, Emerson, Abraham, Giroud, Werner
