Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho jumped ahead of Manchester United boss in the Premier League sack race on Monday evening.

Mourinho is now the favourite for the chop among top flight managers following defeat to Premier League-leaders Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

Goals from Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez saw the Foxes leapfrog Arsenal and regain top spot, while moving 20 points clear of the Premier League champions, who are languishing in 16th with 15 points.

Such a woeful start to their title defence has left Mourinho clinging to a job, with just one point separating the Blues and Norwich in the relegation zone.

Next Premier League manager to leave

10/11 Mourinho

7/4 van Gaal

Ahead of Monday's game, Mourinho was 4/1 to be the next manager in the Premier League to leave his position after staving off the threat of a second Chelsea departure with Wednesday's group-topping victory over Porto in the Champions League.

But the reprieve was brief as attention turned back to domestic affairs and Chelsea failed to build on their momentum. Indeed, the odds on Mourinho leaving have since been slashed to 10/11, shorter than the under-fire Van Gaal.
