Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has shrugged off Arsene Wenger's decision not to shake his hand at the end of the Community Shield on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners' secured victory at the expense of the Premier League champions courtesy of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's superb first-half strike, plus a clean sheet from new goalkeeper Petr Cech.

The two managers' ongoing feud, which led to a physical confrontation last season, and has been reignited during the summer after Mourinho's accusations that Arsenal were "trying to buy the title" took another twist at full time.

Coaches traditionally exchange a handshake following the referee's whistle, but Wenger opted to go down the tunnel immediately.

Once Arsenal returned to collect their trophy, and congratulations from Mourinho, television pictures appeared to show Wenger divert his path away from his rival once again.

Mourinho chose to play down the incident during his post-match comments: "I did my job, the job I have to do as a manager when I lose my trophy.

"I was doing what the status of my club and my status I think I have to do, which was to be there for the winners, wait for them in the way that you only miss me if you want to miss me.

"Every Arsenal player came in my direction, if other people didn’t that’s not a problem, that’s not a story, that’s not the end of the world," the Portuguese insisted.

When directly asked whether he would have shaken Wenger's hand had the opportunity arose Mourinho said: "I don’t need to answer that, you see the images, you see where I am."
