Jose Mourinho today refused to hit back at Greg Dyke after the FA chairman said the Chelsea boss should have apologised to former club doctor Eva Carneiro.

Mourinho was this week cleared of using discriminatory language towards Carneiro in Chelsea’s opening Premier League game of the season against Swansea. The pair clashed after the doctor and physiotherapist Jon Fearn came onto the pitch to treat Eden Hazard during injury time.

Dyke said in a letter to FA council members that Mourinho committed “a failure of his personal judgement and public behaviour”.

Mourinho said today: “For the last two months I didn’t open my mouth and will continue like this.”

Pressed on the matter, and specifically Dyke’s comments, the Chelsea boss said: “It’s the same answer. I am quiet about it for a long time. I read, listen and watch and I’m quiet. We can be here all day, my time to speak will arrive.”

Reports this morning suggested that captain John Terry will be recalled to the team to face Southampton tomorrow.

The centre-half is no longer an automatic first-choice and has missed five games, one of which was enforced because of a ban following a red card at West Brom.

Asked about a recall, Mourinho said: “He is ready every game to play.I won’t tell the team. Maybe you have some sources.”
