Jose Mourinho has conceded he would not be able to turn down a superstar signing should Chelsea's hierarchy offer him such a player in January despite the Portuguese coach publicly admitting he does not intend to demand any new recruits.

The Blues boss revealed on Friday he will not ask the Chelsea board for new players in the upcoming transfer window, although Standard Sport understands Mourinho has been consulted over which members of his current Chelsea team he would like to see depart in January and which players he would like to see arrive.

Despite reiterating his desire to keep faith in the same team that won the Premier League trophy in May, Mourinho admitted he would be unable to turn down a big-name signing in January should Chelsea's board decide to spend money in a bid to inject life into the struggling Blues squad.

When asked whether he would accept a superstar signing, Mourinho said: "Of course yes. But not because I'm not happy or don't trust my players, or that I think only a superstar will help us reach our objectives.

"We believe in ourselves, we trust ourselves. I'd be more than happy to go with this group to the end.

"I always look to players. But, in the last week, if every name connected to us was true we'd have to build a new training centre because there are already 126.

"One thing is to know the market. Internationals you can watch even some countries where you don't follow the league in an easy way, so it's good.

"But not because we are looking for players. In my case, I'm looking to get the best out of my players."

One of the Chelsea players who has been reported to be on his way out of the club is striker Radamel Falcao.

But despite only scoring one Premier League goal for the champions since sealing a season-long loan move to Stamford Bridge in the summer, Mourinho has revealed he wants the Colombian star to remain at the club past the winter transfer window.

When asked if Falcao will stay at Chelsea, Mourinho replied: "I think so. I hope so. Yes (I want it).

"Generally, I hope everybody stays and I hope nobody comes, and we go together to the end.

"For sure, in the end, we'll be in a different situation to where we are."
