Jose Mourinho last night tried to pour cold water on his apparent falling out with Diego Costa during Chelsea’s 4-0 victory in Tel Aviv.

The Blues now sit top of Group G, level on points with FC Porto in second, with one game left to go to secure qualification for the knock-out stages.

Everything, you would think, would be rosy in the Blues camp. But standards and expectations must be maintained.

Costa added the third of Chelsea’s goals against Maccabi, but felt the wrath of Mourinho due to an apparent lack of work rate and movement off the ball.

During one passage of play in particular at the end of the first half, Costa stood motionless after a through-pass from Cesc Fabregas had found Eden Hazard in the box.

The Belgian instinctively played it back towards the centre of goal, where Costa would had the simplest of finishes.

Mourinho gesticulated on the touchline. At that stage the scored was just 1-0.

“I wanted him to do a certain movement that he didn’t,” Mourinho explained after the match. “I was disappointed and I reacted.

“He did too.”

"At half-time in the dressing room, a few kisses and a few cuddles. No problem."
