Jose Mourinho has confirmed he is a huge admirer of Benfica midfielder Nemanja Matic, who is a target for Chelsea this month.

However, the Blues manager claims Benfica are not looking to sell the Serbian international (above, right) despite reports that they need to raise revenue to ease financial troubles.

Mourinho said: “Matic is a good player. Currently he looks solid and mature. He is wise and stable. He is a player that looks very mature on the pitch.

“Benfica is a big club and he seems comfortable. I don’t see any interest from the club to want to sell him. It’s very nice to have players like these in Portuguese football.”

Mourinho is expected to make several changes to the first team for the FA Cup Third Round tie at Derby on Sunday. David Luiz is back from suspension, but Frank Lampard (leg) and Branislav Ivanovic (knee) have been ruled out.
