Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell has said he is “very positive and motivated to work like a beast” to return to action after undergoing a successful knee operation.

Chilwell suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage against Juventus on November 23 and is unlikely to play again this season.

Chelsea initially decided to let England defender begin rehabilitation work in the hope he could avoid surgery.

But the decision was taken for Chilwell to have an operation.

The 25-year-old had the procedure this week and has provided an update on Instagram.

Chilwell said: “Just wanted to let everyone know I am on the way home from a successful op.

“I feel very positive and motivated to work like a beast to get back on the pitch with my boys soon and help this great club win more trophies.”

Chelsea have not been the same since Chilwell was injured.

His absence leaves them short of options in his position and they could be forced to sign a left wing-back in January.
