Charlton are in line for an initial £1.3million windfall if Ademola Lookman joins RB Leipzig from Everton.

RB Leipzig have agreed a fee of £16m rising to £22.5m for the 21-year-old and Charlton are due 15 per cent of any profit on the £7.5m deal which saw him move to Everton in 2017.

Charlton could receive a total of £2.3m if all the add-ons in the deal are met.

Lookman came through the academy at Charlton and made 49 appearances for the club.

He is scheduled to have a medical at RB Leipzig and will join 18-year-old Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu at the Bundesliga club after he joined on a season-long loan.

Lookman is set to follow other young English players who have moved to Germany in recent seasons in the belief they will get more opportunities to play.

Jadon Sancho has excelled at Borussia Dortmund and the Arsenal duo Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe were on loan at Hoffenheim and Leipzig last season.

Lookman played only three times for Everton last season and he is keen on the prospect of playing in the Champions League next season for RB Leipzig, who finished third in the Bundesliga last season
