Charlton players drop racial abuse claims

Charlton’s Danny Haynes and Emmanuel Frimpong have decided not to make an official complaint about the racial abuse they claimed to have suffered at The Den on Saturday.

Frimpong (above), on loan from Arsenal, and Haynes took to Twitter to allege they were abused by Millwall fans.

But a statement from Charlton read: “Following subsequent consultation between the club officials, the police and players concerned, it has been decided that no formal complaint will be made to the police.Charlton are satisfied that Millwall are taking the issue of racism by supporters very seriously.”

Millwall said: “In the absence of any corroborative evidence of racism we consider this matter closed.”
