Former Millwall boss Neil Harris sent the team a congratulatory message after they beat Leeds on Saturday.

Caretaker boss Adam Barrett guided the club to a 2-1 win after Harris stepped down last week following four-and-a-half years in charge.

“He texted everyone individually and said, ‘Well done today, lads, proud of the performance, brilliant result for you’,” revealed Millwall midfielder Jed Wallace. “It sums the man up, he is a class act.”

Millwall are staying tight tipped over who they want to take over at the Den or whether a new manager will be in place for their next game against Brentford in two weeks.

Barrett will remain as caretaker for now, but he has been linked with the vacant Southend job.

Barrett (left) said: “I wanted to put on a performance for Neil and David [Livermore], and so did the lads. They have been instrumental to this club and really turned it around.”
