Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas says PSG star Kylian Mbappe is the one player he would sign if he was a manager and money was no object.
Fabregas came through Barcelona’s La Masia with one of the greatest players of all-time in Lionel Messi, and had great success alongside the Argentine when he returned to his boyhood club in 2012.
He was also a regular rival of another era-defining great, Cristiano Ronaldo, first in the Premier League battles between Arsenal and Manchester United, and then in La Liga’s El Clasico clashes.
However, with both men now moving towards the twilights of their careers, it is Mbappe, who Fabregas says reminds him of former Gunners teammate Thierry Henry, that would have the Spaniard dusting off the chequebook.
"Cristiano is 35 and Leo is going to turn 33, they are older,” he told Spanish station Cadena Cope. “For youth, talent, desire and mentality, I would sign Mbappé. The thought of having him for ten years up front for my team, I would go for him.
"Then there are players like Neymar and [Erling] Haaland, but due to his goal getting and his speed, Mbappé reminds me of [Thierry] Henry. I saw him from in behind and it was a delight when you gave him a long pass into space.”
