Swansea manager Carlos Carvalhal has revealed that assistant referee Marc Perry apologised to him for missing an offside call against former striker Fernando Llorente as he opened the scoring in Tottenham’s 2-0 win at Liberty Stadium on Tuesday night.
The ex-Swansea striker tapped home from Christian Eriksen’s free-kick after 12 minutes, though replays showed he was well offside as the cross came in.
Llorente's goal aside, Spurs defender Davinson Sanchez could also have been sent off for two bookable offences.
The Colombia centre-back escaped a red card from referee Bobby Madley and was quickly substituted by Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Carvalhal, who was appointed last month following the sacking of Paul Clement, refused to blame the officials following the defeat, however.
"I will not start talking about the referees,” the former Sheffield Wednesday boss said.
“The linesman on the right side apologised, it's part of the game. I do mistakes also.
"The coach of Tottenham did a clever substitution to put the centre-half (Sanchez) off because everybody knows why."
