Brighton want Arsenal youngster on loan

Brighton have opened talks with Arsenal over a loan deal for young Spanish defender Ignasi Miquel.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is keen for the 19-year-old to gain some first-team experience with opportunities limited at Emirates Stadium.

Brighton boss Guy Poyet wants to push through a deal for Miquel, who has made 11 first-team appearances for the Gunners, over the next few weeks.

Miquel was part of the Spain squad that won the European Under-19 Championships last summer.
