Brentford manager Dean Smith has expressed his delight at securing Florian Jozefzoon’s Griffin Park future after he signed a new deal until the end of the 2018/19 season.

The Dutch winger signed from PSV in January on an initial six-month deal, but a one year clause was triggered at the end of last season. Due to his impressive performances, the Bees have successfully looked to sign him on for another season.

Jozefzoon made 19 Championship appearances for them last term, 13 of which were off the bench. He scored one goal, and equaliser away at Barnsley, and notched two assists.

“Florian showed the staff enough last season to earn himself a new contract.” Smith told the club site.

“He excited us when he made his debut against Aston Villa and hasn’t disappointed since. We are really pleased that Flo has signed a longer-term contract with the Football Club. He will be a great addition.”
