Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Burki blasted his own fans after his side’s 2-2 draw at home to Freibrug on Saturday.

Sections of the home crowd were heard booing striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, while a banner was unfurled which read ‘no player is bigger than our club’.

The discontent from home fans comes amid ongoing speculation that Aubameyang is set to leave the German side this month in a £60million move to Arsenal. Dortmund have already rejected two bids from the Gunners, insisting they will only let their forward go if their asking price is met.

Aubameyang took to Instagram after the game to upload a picture of himself and added the simple caption: ‘hate me or love me’.

And Burki came to the defence of the 28-year-old, saying: “People come to boo their own team.”

The Swiss international goalkeeper added: “You hear no support. They have no idea about football and probably nothing better to do.”

With Wednesday's 11pm deadline approaching, Arsenal's deal for Aubameyang is likely to go to the wire.
